Delivering Reliability Through Precision: Floway Multi-Stage Vertical Pump Rebuild
CASE STUDY – Pumps: Floway Multi-Stage Vertical Turbine Pump Rebuild — Geothermal Power Station
Industry: Geothermal Power Generation Services: On-Site, Workshop, Pump Overhaul Equipment: Floway Multi-Stage Vertical Turbine Pump
The Situation
A New Zealand geothermal power station required the complete overhaul of a Floway multi-stage vertical turbine pump — a critical asset in their generating process. The work was required at short notice, placing a premium on both technical capability and mobilisation speed.
The Challenge
Vertical turbine pumps of this type require precise measurement and assembly across multiple stages. Dimensional errors compound through the assembly, making the overhaul technically demanding. The criticality of the asset meant there was limited tolerance for extended downtime or a substandard outcome.
What Qualtex Did
As the exclusive New Zealand distributor for Trillium Flow Technologies, including the Floway VTP range, Qualtex had direct access to OEM technical knowledge and parts. The scope included on-site precision measurement and careful pump extraction, full workshop overhaul with component-level inspection and assessment, and on-site reinstallation and commissioning.
Every stage of the rebuild was carried out to exacting tolerances. Our team’s familiarity with the Floway platform allowed us to work efficiently without compromising accuracy.
The Outcome
The pump was returned to service within the required timeframe, with seal leakage risks significantly reduced and the equipment restored to specification. The client can expect an extended service interval and reduced total cost of ownership compared to the pre-overhaul condition.
